ROSA MOSA
Salzburg born Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi from Kyoto are the designers behind the rosa mosa label. Simone graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and Yuji studied Buddhist philosophy in Kyoto. They met during their studies at the Cordwainers College in London, where they had enrolled in the subjects of Acessories and Footwear design. During that time they began to collaborate, bringing their individual skills together to create a collection of entirely handmade one-off pieces of wood carved sandals that were shown at London Fashion Week. For this collection the couple were awarded the „Associate Membership of the Guild of Master Craftsmen“ as well as the „Currier award for excellence in leather crafts“ After working with a bespoke shoe maker in Brighton they decided to relocate to Austria in 2001.
In their Viennese studio each model is developed and experimented with each collection rosa mosa sources primarily from local suppliers and regular cooperation with Austrian suppliers and Artisans are highlighting the diveristy of each rosa mosa line. In their collections rosa mosa work with local tanneries to create original leathers by working with new techniques, using new coatings, finishing and abrasion techniques in order to retain their own unique thread of unmistakable appearance in their already collected items.
Rosa Mosa stands for indivdualism, innovation and the highest level of craftmanship. Each pair of rosa mosa shoes reflects a story of time and creativity as well as traces of the hands that made them creating the perfect balance between craftsmanship and artistic thought that results in the individuality of each rosa mosa item.
